owner, Graduate Gemologist, AJP
Equipped with a degree in Apparel Management from the NC State School of Textiles, Jaki started her career in retail management and visual design. She always had a passion for quality products -drawn particularly to handcrafted works and the artists who create them- and an eye for design, but she quickly realized she wanted to invest even more in her craft. She knew she wanted to open her own store. Serendipitously, her longtime family friend and former employers, Jacques and Edith Sollberger had their eye on Jaki to take over their successful business. They were confident that her chosen career path, her keen understanding of the power of personal customer service, and her passion for success would make her the perfect candidate to take the torch and keep the store flourishing.
Jaki is a newlywed and lives with her husband, Kyle and their two dogs. She enjoys navigating her way through flea markets and hot yoga classes. She's a sucker for sauvignon blanc and seafood; and she's a self-diagnosed blog junkie who loves a good cup of coffee.
founder, master watchmaker
Jacques started his career in 1979 when he graduated from watchmaking school in his native Solothurn, Switzerland and was awarded the title of "Uhrmacher-Rhabilleur," or watchmaker. Still only a teenager, he moved with his family to the US where he was quickly sought out by a jeweler in Cleveland, MS to be an in-store watchmaker.
Jacques opened his first store, Sollberger Watches & Clocks, Inc., in Pearl, MS in 1984, then moved to the Village Mall in Ridgeland in 1989. From there he spent 11 years in the Purple Creek Plaza on County Line Rd. During that time his wife, Edith, joined forces with him, applying her wealth of retail and jewelry knowledge to the growing store.
In 2003, Jacques exhibited remarkable foresight and courage when he moved his successful enterprise to the Township on Highland Colony Parkway, where the store thrives today.
Edith was born, raised and attended business school in Saarbrucken, Germany, and came to the United States in 1974. She proudly became a US citizen in 2000. Edith has worked in the jewelry business since 1981 and brought her wealth of experience in jewelry sales, management, and purchasing into her husband's business in 1994.
